ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE)– As immigrants across the country face uncertainty about their status in the U.S. under the Trump administration, the U.S. Border Patrol is shoring up an area of the border seeing a spike in illegal crossings.

Federal officials have announced they’re deploying 150 extra agents to the Rio Grande sector of the Texas-Mexico border where they say they’ve been apprehending more and more people trying to cross into the U.S. illegally.

People living in that area say they’ve noticed the uptick in illegal crossings.

The additional agents are being brought in from Tuscon, San Diego, and Del Rio.
