ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A local brewery owner is getting ready to represent New Mexico in a big time national conference. He’s been invited to help Yelp make its review site even better.
From nightlife and shopping to car care, Yelp’s got it. There’s plenty of Albuquerque businesses that take advantage of it, hoping a five star rating will turn into five star profits. Nexus Brewery knows all about that.
This time, Yelp wants to hear from them. A national conference is bringing 100 of the “top rated” businesses together from across the country. Out of those 100, only 6 are breweries. The only one from New Mexico, is Nexus Brewery.
“It’s quite an honor to be selected out of all the businesses in New Mexico,” said owner, Ken Carson.
It’s called the Yelp Coast to Coast Summit.
“I will have a chance to meet the CEO of Yelp,” said Carson.
Carson and the other business owners will head to San Francisco and sit down with the thinker behind Yelp. They’ll discuss how to make the review site better and how business owners can use it to benefit their company.
That’s something Carson’s been doing for years. Weeding through each one of the 500 comments to see which ones could help his brewery.
“When they’re having an issue, there’s a quality issue, there’s a service issue. We find that it’s better to listen to what the customers are saying. I’ve always done that,” said Carson.
While hearing straight from the customers is great, at the conference Carson will be able to share ideas with the other businesses.
In a city with a booming craft beer industry, he says it’s knowledge he’ll bring back and share with the other local breweries.
“I’ll share that with the Brewer’s Guild and things like that, and provide that information to help New Mexico do an even better job on the brewing scene,” said Carson.
Carson will fly out on Sunday.
