ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Protein is very important to include in your diet for many different reason.
Fitness Expert, Kristin Rowe, talks protein and why it’s so important in this week’s edition of Fit Friday.
Protein is the primary building block of the body. It’s comprised of smaller molecules known as amino acids that link together in a chain and can be molded into different shapes. Protein builds tissues like muscle, tendons, organs and even skin. Even though our bodies already produce 12 amino acids, the other nine that are needed have to come from the food we eat.
Rowe joined KRQE’s This Morning team to demonstrate a proper lunge.
Rowe suggests that proteins not only build muscle, but it also builds strength. A huge benefit to adding protein into diets is it helps to lose fat while preserving muscle and can help to eliminate hunger.
Eating .8 to one gram of protein per lean pound of body mass is what Rowe suggests.
Good proteins include lean meats such as beef, chicken, tuna, dairy and whey protein.
