ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – An Albuquerque pediatric surgeon arrested for possessing and distributing child pornography is now looking at a possible 30 years in prison.

Prosecutors have now charged Guy Rosenchein with federal charges which carry much stiffer sentences than state charges.

Deputies say they found a USB drive full of child pornography after searching Rosenchein’s home this week.

The pediatric surgeon was a doctor at Presbyterian hospital in downtown. He was fired immediately after his arrest.

Investigators also found an underage boy in only his underwear in Rosenchein’s home the night of his arrest.

Their relationship is still being investigated but deputies say the boy was not Rosenschein’s nephew as he initially claimed and is instead a former patient.

Thursday in court a judge ordered Rosenchein to remain locked up pending a hearing on November 14th.
