ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The Mountain West Preseason Player of the Year is ready to get his hoop on.
Lobos guard Elijah Brown missed his team’s first two exhibition games nursing a nagging left hamstring injury that first started bothering him last season. Brown not only played the season with the bad hamstring, but continued during the off season while testing the NBA waters.
He admits he probably should have shut down the activity to give his body a break.
“Could have been smarter with how I handled my off season because I was going pretty hard with workouts and stuff which probably didn’t help it,” said Brown. “It’s something that’s just a learning experience but, obviously it’s feeling a lot better now. I’m still working at it. I will be ready.”
Brown was not totally 100 percent Wednesday, but said he would be so by game time.
Having Brown in the lineup should give an already potent Lobo team a boost. Brown averaged over 21 points for the cherry and silver last season. He was the Lobos leading scorer and second in the Mountain West.
The Lobos and Idaho State have an 8 p.m. start time at WisePies Arena AKA The Pit Friday.
