ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – New Mexicans are expressing mixed reactions over Donald Trump’s win. New Mexico’s five electoral votes went to Hillary Clinton after she beat Donald Trump by eight points here.

There’s been a lot of different reactions over Trump’s win. Tuesday night, New Mexico GOP celebrated Trump’s early lead. Republicans also celebrated late Tuesday night at the Convention Center as it became clear Trump was about to win.

Democrats held on to hope late into the night before finally accepting defeat. Senator Tom Udall talked about the future under a Trump presidency.

Wednesday morning, University of New Mexico students arriving on campus found anti-Trump graffiti and Nazi symbols. Crews Wednesday morning cleaned up about a dozen markings.

People are also sounding off on Facebook with both negative and positive messages.

While local Democrats lost the White House, they did take back control in the Legislature, making Tuesday night’s defeat a little easier.
