ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A local program designed to help veterans get off the streets is being recognized.

In the veterans court program, military veterans who have committed non-violent crimes plea to their charges, but instead of going to jail, they’re assigned to train service dogs that will eventually help wounded vets around the country.

When the vets finish the training program, their charges are dropped.
