Lobo men’s basketball sign a pair of 4 star recruits

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE)- Lobo men’s basketball coach Craig Neal added depth to his front court on signing day.

The Lobos signed center Chris Sodom out of Tennessee Prep. He is originally from Nigeria. Sodom moved to Tennessee this school year. Prior to that, he played AAU Basketball with the Houston Defenders.

The Lobos’ other recruit is Isaiah “Poor Bear” Chandler out of Omaha, Nebraska. Chandler averaged 13 points, 8.5 rebounds and more than three blocks per game as a junior at Omaha Central High. Chandler is second all-time in school history with 89 blocks in a season.

He chose the Lobos over Wichita State. Both will be freshmen for the 2017-2018 season. Coach Neal believes the two will help fill the void when seniors Tim Williams and Obij Aget depart after the current season.

“Chris is a unique individual because he is 7″3,” said Neal. “Can run really well for his size. He’s got good touch, can make free throws. Isaiah, native american kid, which is really good for us. He’s got great feet. He’s nimble. He can run.” The Lobos will host Idaho State Friday.
