‘Lego Education’ shows local instructors fun teaching methods

RIO RANCHO, N.M. (KRQE)- Some local teachers are getting a lesson in Legos so they can show kids how to learn while playing.

It’s part of a program called “Lego Education.”

On Tuesday, teachers got some hands on practice from building Lego bricks to programing Lego robots at Sandia Vista Elementary in Rio Rancho.

The goal is to bring hands-on application to kids and teach them how to use math and science in the real world.

“While building with Legos is always engaging and is always purposeful play, this one dove tails nicely with our common core state standards,” said Brigid Fair, Sandia Elementary Teacher.

Sixty teachers from across the state attended this Lego Symposium.
