Cibola National Forest to offer Christmas tree permits

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – If you enjoy a natural tree for Christmas, permits to cut the perfect one down will go on sale later this month.

Christmas trees can be cut between Thanksgiving Day throughout Christmas Eve. The cost is $10 per tree for trees up to 10 feet. Trees taller than that will cost an extra dollar per foot.

Cibola National Forest and Grasslands Supervisor’s Office

2113 Osuna Rd. NE; Albuquerque, NM. Phone: 505.346.3900. Hours: Weekdays 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.; permits will be issued from Nov. 14 until Dec. 24.

Magdalena Ranger District

Magdalena Ranger District Office, 203 1st Street, Magdalena, NM
Phone: 575.854.2281. Hours: Weekdays 8:00 a.m. to noon; 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.; permits will be issued from Nov. 14 until Dec. 24.

Mt. Taylor Ranger District

Mt. Taylor Ranger District Office, 1800 Lobo Canyon Rd.; Grants, NM. Phone: 505.287.8833. Hours: Weekdays 8:00 a.m. to noon; 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.; permits will be issued from Nov. 14 until Dec. 24.

Wingate Work Center, located on Painted Horse Trail in Fort Wingate, NM. Fort Wingate is off NM400 at exit 33 on I-40.  Follow the signs to the Wingate Work Center/Administrative Site. Permits will be issued from Nov. 15 until Dec. 17, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m.  They will also be issued on Saturdays from 8 am until noon and 12:30 p.m. until 5 p.m.  The permits will be issued on Dec. 20 and Dec 22 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
