ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – It’s a way to honor the dedicated people who work to protect animals.

The City of Albuquerque Animal Welfare Department encourages residents to support local shelters for this special week.

Deputy Director, Paul Castor, joined KRQE This morning to talk about National Animal Shelter Appreciation week. Watch above.

National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week is a perfect opportunity for our community to become acquainted with their local shelter and to help homeless pets.

Some ways to get involved include adopting a pet from a local shelter, becoming a volunteer or donate supplies.
