Police locate ‘person of interest’ in stabbings

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) – Authorities have located a man wanted for questioning in connection with the stabbing deaths of two children and a woman at a New Jersey home.

Officials said late Sunday night that they had found 26-year-old Jeremy Arrington, identified by police as a “person of interest” in the case. Arrington has not been charged.

Essex County prosecutors say 8-year-old Aerial Little Whitehurst, 11-year-old Al-Jahon Whitehurst and 23-year-old Syasia McBurroughs were fatally stabbed Saturday afternoon at a home in Newark. Three other people, a 29-year-old woman, a 13-year-old boy and a 13-year-old girl, were wounded. They remained hospitalized Sunday in critical, but stable condition.

Many of the victims were family members, but their exact relationships weren’t immediately known.

A possible motive for the attack has not yet been disclosed.
