ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE)– A father is behind bars after his baby was sent to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The Albuquerque Police Department was called out to a South Valley home after a six-month-old boy was taken to the hospital with three skull fractures and a broken leg.

While police say the dad, Leonel Torres, claims the child fell off a bed, an investigation found those injuries are consistent with the baby being kicked.

Torres is now facing a string of child abuse charges.
