KRQE NEWS 13 ANALYSTS: The race to watch on Election Day

Dick Knipfing and Gabe Sanchez

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Wondering what races to watch for on Election Day? KRQE News 13 Political Analysts Dick Knipfing and Gabe Sanchez talk about the race they will be watching on November 8, 2016.

“I think the one that is a bell weather to me is the Maestas-Barnes, Anne Romero race that is here in Albuquerque,” Political Analyst Gabe Sanchez said. “So that one is interesting for a number of reasons, but Maestas-Barnes is a potential superstar in the Republican party but that is a swing district and one where Democrats are potentially favored to pick that up.”

“I think given the fact that Maestas-Barnes has raised a lot of money, highly popular , actually very moderate used to be  a Democrat. If she loses I that is a bell weather for the Republicans,” Sanchez said.

“She has actually made a point that she is not going to vote with the Republican party, her party, on every issue in fact, she didn’t on some issues,” Knipfing said.

“That’s right, she stood apart from the governor when she feels like it was needed. So I think if she loses this is a bell weather that sends major signals of trouble for the Republican party overall,” Sanchez said.
