Construction to begin on pedestrian bridge across Avenida Cesar Chavez

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The pedestrian bridge across Avenida Cesar Chavez is set to undergo construction Thursday. It’s the stretch between Broadway to 3rd Street, and it won’t be open again for a month.

The city says the pedestrian bridge on Avenida Cesar Chavez over William Street will undergo a complete rebuild.

Officials say all cars, trucks and bikes will share the road on the new south deck that was just poured. The north part, however, will be closed for demo and construction.

Pedestrian access will be closed during the rebuild. City officials are pushing the bus as an alternative way of getting around.

If you want to use the bus, you can call 505-242-RIDE.
