ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Lobos women’s basketball coach Mike Bradbury made his debut Tuesday night when his team hosted Ft. Lewis College for an exhibition game. The Lobos defeated the visitors 101-48.
It was the first time since 2005 that the program scored a 100 or more points. The Lobos have scored 100 points 8 times in school history.
Head coach Mike Bradbury was pleased with his team’s effort.
“I thought we played well and I thought our discipline was good but, that’s kind of what was suppose to happen,” said Bradbury.
The Lobos leading returning scorer, Cherise Beynon, had 20 points and 12 rebounds in the victory.
She, like her teammates was excited about scoring 100 points.
“I think it’s very exciting to put up that many points,” said Beynon. “I could see the crowd was happy but, it’s my first time being here.”
The Lobos had five players in double figures. Mountain West Preseason Freshman of the Year, Mykiel Burleson also got into double figures, scoring 14 points in her Lobo debut.
The Lobos will host Eastern New Mexico in their final exhibition game Sunday at 2 p.m.
