KRQE Cares launches new educational program

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – It has been an umbrella for several initiatives throughout the year, from shoes for kids, food for kids, and now a brand new campaign.

KRQE Cares is introducing another great organization to serve the Albuquerque community, Books for Kids.

Vangie Pacheco, Jennifer Lucero Montoya, and Angelo Gonzales, joined KRQE This Morning’s team to discuss the campaign. Watch above.

The Books for Kids campaign will raise money for the APS Educational Foundations to purchase books for the Title 1 Story-time in the Parks Summer program.

This project is a bit different from the previous campaigns, in that books won’t actually be collected. Instead, the campaign hopes to collect funds for APS Title 1 to purchase books for the Story-time in the Parks Project.

The Story-time in the Parks project will allow for kids to be read to by members of the community at 35 parks across Albuquerque.

The program will provide more that 100,000 free books to children. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
