Albuquerque, N.M. (KRQE) – It came down to one final game.

The stakes: two teams that haven’t won the World Series in decades.

In the end there was frenzy for one fan base and heartbreak for the other.

Wednesday night, it was a packed house as fans in Albuquerque cheered for their favorite team at Uptown Sports Bar.

“Go Cubs! Go baby! Make it happen! Make it happen for all of us,” yelled one Chicago fan.

“I grew up in Cleveland so its been a long time coming, a long time coming,” said a Cleveland Fan.

It’s been a long time coming for these two teams and their fans. Cleveland hasn’t won the World Series since 1948, Chicago since 1908.

Fans in Albuquerque said the Cubs had a great season and they expected them to make it this far.

Cleveland fans said their team came out of left field during the playoffs, but they deserve to play in the World Series.

Both teams have battled it out the past six games, giving fans a game seven.

At Uptown Sports Bar, a lot more Cubs fans filled the place than Cleveland fans. Many people were decked out in red and blue Cubs gear from head to toe.

In the end, it was the Cubs that took it all, winning the World Series. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
