ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) – Police in Albuquerque say three people have been arrested in the theft of retail merchandise that was being sold online and at flea markets.

They say two women and one man were taken into custody at their home and a large amount of the merchandise was recovered.

The Albuquerque Police Organized Crime Unit had been working on the case for months.

Authorities say the Victoria’s Secret stores inside two malls were losing more than $50,000 in merchandise due to the thefts.

Detectives worked with loss prevention investigators from the retail chain to identify the suspects, who devised a way to fool the theft-alarm door sensors to remove the unsold merchandise from the stores.

The suspects removed the security tags from the items and then put them in a tote bag. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
