New Mexico man inspires residents to recycle more

MORA, N.M. (KRQE) – A New Mexico man is on a mission to get more people to recycle.

Francisco Chavez was born and raised in Mora. He worked for Walt Disney World and was so inspired by their recycling program that he wants to see more of it in New Mexico.

So Chavez joined the New Mexico Recycling Coalition and works to encourage people to use waste as a resource.

“My daughter is 14 and I want to see her in a clean school clean community where we are recycling and not just throwing everything into a big landfill,” said Chavez.

Chavez recently won first place in a fall festival for his “Trunk or Treat” display. It was made completely out of recyclable materials. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
