Judge lowers bond for former coach accused of rape

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Monday, a judge reduced the bond for the football coach accused of raping students.

Damien Hyatt, 24, was the assistant football coach at Moriarty High School before his arrest. Hyatt is accused of bribing girls with alcohol the raping them.

He’s facing 24 counts in all, including rape, bribery of a witness, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and criminal sexual contact.

The judge reduced his bond from $150,000 cash or surety to $100,000 citing his strong family ties and lack of criminal history.
