It all started near a bus stop near Center and Primrose Friday morning.

According to the criminal complaint, 42-year-old Richard Fierro drove by an 8-year-old boy walking to school, pointed a gun at him and demanded he get in his car. A short time later, he did the same to a 15-year-old boy walking to school.

Both boys say Fierro then spotted a van with two girls and a woman inside, pointed a gun at them and tried to grab one of the girls but the mom hit the gas and fled, with Fierro firing shots at them.

The boys both escaped when Fierro crashed into another vehicle and fled. He was found hiding in a backyard.

When police interviewed him, they say Fierro claimed he received a note earlier in the week ordering him to kidnap three children or his daughter would be harmed.

Police say Fierro was rambling and his story changed many times and didn’t make sense. Police confirmed his daughter was OK and was not being held by anyone.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for November 15th. A judge set his bond at $100,000.
