ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The suspect who told police he was the homeowner of the house he was actually burglarizing is now behind bars.
According to a criminal complaint, police arrested 21-year-old Reymundo Lucero after he was pulled over for reckless driving.
Police said he was wanted for pretending to own a house he was burglarizing. When the officer asked for his ID, he went inside the house and never returned.
According to the complaint, investigators believed he was also connected to another high-profile burglary in Albuquerque, the one where Moose the Great Dane was shot and killed.
Lucero told police he knew about the burglary, but wasn’t involved. He pointed the finger at 19-year-old Daniel Sandoval.
Sandoval was also arrested and admitted to police he was at the house.
But according to the complaint, he too pointed the finger at someone else. Sandoval said a man named Sebastian Garcia actually shot and killed Moose.
Police are still investigating. They’re also looking for Garcia.
