Italy cleaning up after 6.6 earthquake on Sunday

ROME (KRQE) – Italians are in distress as a powerful earthquake rocks Central and Southern Italy.

Emergency workers are racing to determine if any people have been killed or injured. Authorities said there have been reports of collapsed buildings in many cities.

Witnesses said Saint Benedict Cathedral crumbled and only its facade remains standing. Priests prayed in the piazza amid the rubble.

The preliminary magnitude is 6.6.

This comes just days after a pair of aftershock quakes hit the area.
