Las Cruces man accused of firing shots at his ex-wife

LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) – A Las Cruces man has been accused of firing two shots at his ex-wife during an argument.

Dona Ana County Sheriff’s officials say 58-year-old Gregory Kight was arrested Monday night.

Authorities say he’s being held without bond at the County Detention Center on suspicion of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

After an initial investigation, deputies determined Kight’s former wife told him that she didn’t want to be with him anymore.

The woman told deputies Kight allegedly was intoxicated and shot at her twice with a handgun.

She was not hit by any bullets and she called 911.

Kight went back to his residence, where deputies located and arrested him without incident.

It was unclear Tuesday if Kight has a lawyer yet. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
