ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The trial for a high-profile defendant kicks off Monday, a corrections officer police say raped multiple inmates.

Torry Chambers is accused of raping female inmates while he was working at MDC between 2008 and 2010, as well as helping a male inmate rape a female inmate.

Last week, a judge refused the defense’s request to have Chambers’ disciplinary history and details of his extramarital affairs kept out of the trial.

Chambers is still a sergeant at MDC, but is not allowed to have contact with inmates.
