ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – It started with a Facebook post from the Santa Fe Police Department, asking for the public’s help to find Carlito Quintana.
Police said he’s a 20-year-old man wanted for a long list of serious crimes.
“He’s wanted for criminal sexual penetration, two counts,” said Captain James Lamb with the Santa Fe Police Department. “Criminal sexual contact of a minor, one count,”
The intention of the post was to get tips, but what police didn’t expect was for Quintana himself to reply.
“When we posted the wanted information for him on Facebook, he in return posted on there ‘haha you’ll never catch me’,” said Captain Lamb.
His exact words were, “You ain’t catching no one.”
Santa Fe Police stayed quiet, for the time being.
“You may be bold and put that stuff on there, but eventually we’re going to catch up with you,” said Captain Lamb.
Less than a week after Quintana mocked officers, he was arrested in Albuquerque for a string of bank robberies across the city.
The FBI released a picture of Quintana at the Bank of the West on Eubank near Menual, wearing a fedora.
“If you think you can’t be caught, you’re probably going to be caught,” said Captain Lamb.
Santa Fe Police said this actually isn’t the first time they’ve had a suspect reply to a Facebook post. Last year, SFPD said a suspected car thief wrote, “You guys are too slow, you’ll never catch me.”
He too, was caught.
