ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Two Sports and Wellness Staff members were recognized as Good Samaritans.

Friday Mayor Berry recognized Elanie Beachler and Kenny Greer for saving a man’s life during a handball game. The man was playing at Highpoint Sports and Wellness when he suffered a heart attack. Greer and Beachler jumped into action, with one doing chest compressions and the other using a defibrillator.

“Doctors say the staff members were quick and efficient and their actions were essential in saving his life,” said Mayor Berry.

Also recognized Friday were Parks and Recreation employees who helped a paralyzed child climb a rock wall using an automatic belay system.
