UNM women's basketball team visits local elementary school

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Students at a northeast Albuquerque elementary school had a howling good time Thursday.

The University of New Mexico’s women’s basketball team visited kids in Miss Kara’s kindergarten class at North Star Elementary, talking to them about the game, and how practice and good grades are the keys to success.

“It makes me feel good as a person and it’s always great to give back to your community just to know that we can help build children’s confidence, character and know they can be one of us one day,” said Lobo Basketball Player Cherise Beynon.

The team also played basketball with the kids and signed autographs.

The Lady Lobos kick off their season November 1 with an exhibition game against Fort Lewis.
