Ribbon cutting ceremony held for changes made to Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue


ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – New changes have been made on Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue.

Thursday, city officials held a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new striping and bike lanes.The new bike lanes are much wider and much more visible.

There is also bike boxes, a designated area for bicyclists marked by green paint.

“We’re very excited to have this facility open up to our bicycling community,” said Melissa Lozoya, Department of Municipal Development. “We’ve heard they’re looking for enhanced bike facilities and I think this is the perfect corridor to put it on.”

The project was funded by Go Bonds and cost about $1.7 million.
