Signs have popped up in Nob Hill, offering construction discounts and deals. One even read, “Retail therapy for ART refugees!” It’s outside of the store Free Radicals on Yale and Lead.

The owner says they know how businesses on Central feel since they went through it a couple years ago during construction on Lead and Coal.

They say the funny signs help.

“We’re gonna call it a silver lining, it’s a chance to kind of make a little bit extra off of a road construction project but again I feel for all the businesses on Central. Man, we went through it too,” said Nan Monringstar, owner of Free Radicals.

They plan to put out new signs as the construction continues. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
