John’s Tuesday Afternoon Forecast

Midweek cool down...

Expect less wind this afternoon across New Mexico. Temperatures will remain above average, but will be cooler than yesterday’s record heat. The east will see the biggest cool down, by as much as 10° – 15°. The gradual cool down continues Wednesday under mostly sunny skies.

A back door cold front enters the state late Wednesday into Thursday. This will lead to the biggest drop off in temperatures. As the cold front rolls through the metro the winds will crank up through the canyon, with winds gusting between 35 and 40 mph.

The cool down will be short lived as temperatures rebound back to above average over the weekend. The next major storm to impact the state doesn’t appear to arrive until at least the end of next week. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
