Police: Robbery suspect sprayed store clerk with mace


ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – An Albuquerque robbery suspect accused of macing a convenience store clerk, has been arrested.

According to a criminal complaint, Michael Madrid walked up to the counter at the VP Racing at San Mateo and Constitution with a Dr. Pepper.

When the clerk started to check him out police say Madrid sprayed the clerk in the face with pepper spray before jumping the counter, grabbing the cash drawer and fleeing the store.

He was arrested Saturday night for separate charges.

Sunday morning, a judge set his bond at $10,000 cash surety.
