Legendary New Mexico: The Museum of Military Families and Learning Center

A new museum has opened in the East Mountains honoring the unsung heroes of war… the families of service men and women.

The Museum of Military Families and Learning Center offers a place of convergence for the stories, the memories and the experiences of military spouses, children and parents, whose unique perspective on war is seldom seen in a museum setting.

Dr. Allen Dale Olsen’s daughter founded the museum four years ago in an attempt to celebrate and honor this section of society.  As Olsen says, the artifacts populating the museum have been graciously donated to tell the story of the human experience of war -one that exists beyond the front lines and well after combat has ceased.

Their doors have been open since July in a modest home located at the crossroads of the historic Route 66, I-40 and SR 14.  While there is no admission fee to the museum, donations are accepted.
