Suspect pins deputy with car during chase

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A deputy was injured Friday night during a foot-chase.

According to Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Jessica Carreon tried to pull over 33-year-old Patrick Candelaria after he was seen driving in reverse into oncoming traffic on Atrisco Dr. near Central. Candelaria then took off on foot running across Central into a nearby parking lot where he tried to carjack a vehicle causing the driver to accelerate, pinning Deputy Carreon into a second vehicle.

Carreon was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Candelaria was taken into custody and transported to the hospital for minor injuries.
