Northwest Albuquerque neighborhood on edge after creepy clown sighting

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A neighborhood on edge, looking for a creepy clown they say is chasing their kids with knives.

“When the clown started chasing them, my son and his friend starting running as fast as they could, they were freaking out not sure what was going on,” said one boy’s father who didn’t want to be identified. “He looked back and seen flashes and he thought they were taking pictures then he saw a knife in this clowns hand.”

He says his son and a friend were walking home around 7 p.m. Wednesday night in their northwest Albuquerque neighborhood near Rainbow and Paseo Del Norte.
They say a person dressed like a clown had knives and started chasing them, while another person took pictures.

The kids ran home and told their dad who went out looking for the clown, along with others from the neighborhood. They didn’t find anyone and says the prank is cruel.

“But what they don’t realize is they become the prey to the adults of the kids that they did this to,” said the father. “You know it doesn’t work that way you can do this. You scare the hell out of kids you get angry parents.”

They did report it to police. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
