ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – If he gets his way, Lobos Head Coach Bob Davie will see improvement from his 2-3 football team.
At his weekly press conference Tuesday, Davie laid out a few items that need work. He wants to see his defense create turnovers, pressure better on the line and cover better on pass plays.
He also wants to get more net punt yards to put opponents in more of a hole as far as field position is concerned. Penalties have plagued the Lobos the last few games and Davie wants it cleaned up.
“We’ve had two weeks back to back of just a ridiculous amount of penalties,” said Davie. “We’ve had six offsides in two weeks. The penalty thing all of a sudden now seems to be a chronic problem.”
The Lobos have 36 penalties on the season totaling 308 yards. They average 61.60 penalty yards per game. The Lobos and Air Force will play a neutral site game at the Cotton Bowl Saturday at 1:30 p.m. (Mountain Time). The game will be broadcast on ESPN News.
