TAOS, N.M. (KRQE) – Being shot by a homeowner didn’t stop him but now investigators finally have.
Yvon Juteau, 32, who was shot in the face by a Taos homeowner this summer is now facing charges for a hit and run crash more than three years ago.
Investigators say Juteau is the driver who fled the scene of a head-on collision in July 2013 that seriously injured two members of the Taos Pueblo.
But it took some time to get the evidence they needed to arrest him. They finally did so last week.
Since it happened on the Pueblo, he’s facing federal charges.
Juteau first made the news in May when he botched a home break-in and was shot by a homeowner. He later pleaded not guilty to seven charges in that case.
CORRECTION: KRQE News 13 originally reported that Juteau had pleaded guilty in the botched home break-in case. He actually pleaded not guilty, and is still awaiting trial for those charges.
