Big Brothers Big Sisters merger set to help more students

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – An accidental merger resulted in more resources for New Mexico youth.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central New Mexico (BBBS-CNM), a national organization that matches children with mentors in the community to help the kids reach their full potential, has combined resources with Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Juan County (BBBS-SJC), and will oversee its operations.

Development Director for BBBS-CNM, Melanie Kagan, joined the KRQE This Morning team to talk about the recent merger. Watch above.

The merger came about after the CEO of BBBS-SJC resigned. They asked BBBS-CNM to help determine how their processes could be streamlined during this leadership transition.

Together, the BBBS-SJC and BBBS-CNM leaders determined that by working together, the BBBS-SJC branch could save money in operating costs that could be used to serve more children in that area.
