UNM Women’s Soccer loses to UNLV in a late heartbreaker

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Lobo Women’s Soccer was coming off a solid performance against Nevada on Friday winning that game 2-0. They looked to keep the good times rolling and get two conference wins in a row at UNLV.

It looked good early as UNM came out aggressive, and within the first 5 minutes the Lobos would find the net. A beautiful cross from Alexa Cabrales to Olivia Ferrier who then found the net. 1-0 Lobos and it would remain that way the rest of the 1st half.

Midway through the 2nd half UNLV would capitalize on a free kick finding the net on a header to tie the game at 1. The Lobos were competing the entire way through but with only seconds left in extra time UNLV would nail the game deciding goal. 2-1 UNLV walks away with the home victory.

UNM is now 6-6-2 overall and 2-4 in MW Conference play. UNM sits in 7th place at the moment in the Mountain West.

They now look to bounce back at home as they host Utah State next on Friday at 7:30pm.
