John’s Wednesday Afternoon Forecast

Touch and go to end Balloon Fiesta...

The quiet weather will continue through at least Thursday morning, making way for what should be another successful balloon launch. Then a cold front moves into the state late Thursday into Friday. The winds will start to bump up Thursday evening, and continue Friday. Showers will develop across the east as the front pushes through. Temperatures will drop by a few degrees in the west, and as much as 20° out east.

A storm system will move toward the state from the southwest over the weekend. The southern tier of the state will be favored for scattered showers, but they could reach as far north as Albuquerque. This means there will be a few passing showers for the closing weekend of Balloon Fiesta. However, winds are looking to be on the lighter side, so there will be plenty of windows of opportunity to try to get a successful launch in. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
