Balloon pilots to showcase their countries at mass ascension

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Dozens of pilots are preparing to showcase their country in the mid-week mass ascension at Balloon Fiesta Park.

Balloon Fiesta draws tens of thousands of spectators to Albuquerque every year, and Wednesday is an opportunity to learn what kind of international representation we have on the field.

This year, there are 20 countries represented at Balloon Fiesta. Select pilots from each of those countries will represent their nation by carrying a flag as they take off right before the mass ascension Wednesday.

Special shapes like “Copter Boy” and “A Big Hug” are from Brazil, for example.
