WASHINGTON (AP) – Mike Pence says he expects Tuesday’s vice presidential debate against Tim Kaine to focus on the presidential candidates who chose them as running mates.

The Republican told supporters at a rally north of Richmond, Virginia, that he expects to defend GOP nominee Donald Trump, and for Kaine to argue in favor of Democrat Hillary Clinton.

But he added that “I kind of hope we get to talk about our records as well.”

Pence is governor of Indiana who served in Congress for a decade. Kaine is a U.S. senator and former governor of Virginia. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
