ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – When working out, it’s important to know what muscles you are using and how to incorporate them into a training routine.
Fitness Expert, Kristin Rowe, talks lunges in this week’s edition of Fit Friday.
There are different variations of lunges, reverse, walking, side and curtsy lunges. The muscles incorporated with these exercises are the quads, hamstrings and glutes. Depending on which lunge is being performed, one of these muscle groups will be more recruited than others. The core and lower back muscles will also activate because they are the stabilizers.
Rowe joined KRQE’s This Morning team to demonstrate a proper lunge. Watch above.
When performing a lunge, it’s important that the knee should not go past your toes. Always push through the heel of the working leg for best results.
Rowe suggests four sets of 10 on each leg or for those looking for more volume, three to four sets of 25 reps.
