Dog stolen from Albuquerque family’s backyard returns home

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Missing for more than a year, a foothills family has been reunited with their stolen dog.

The Sadlers say their pup, Rollo, was taken from their backyard near Tramway and Lomas in May of last year.

The family searched for Rollo for months with no luck, until Thursday, when an anonymous tip led Albuquerque police to a home near Menaul and 2nd where Rollo was found alive and well.

“I just started crying,” said owner Lisa Sadler. “It’s funny, you think, oh, it’s just a dog but there’s just a lot of emotion there.”

The Sadler’s say they’re thankful for the help from police.

Officers say they don’t believe the homeowners who had Rollo are the ones who stole him. They told officers they bought Rollo from someone else. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
