Albuquerque police issue warrants for 3 suspects in homicide

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The Albuquerque Police Department has issued warrants for three suspects regarding a homicide from June.

The warrants are for the homicide of Larry Sanchez, 49, who was found dead in June. Police say that he was shot and pushed out of a vehicle on the 6100 block of Casa Feliz.

The shooter has been identified as Dakota Cook who is already in custody on unrelated charges. Cook has an extensive history and was involved in a car chase that ended in an officer involved shooting south of Albuquerque.

The other two accomplices are Joe Ray Newson, AKA “Newsom” and Antoinette Martinez. They are not in custody.

Police say that Newson was recently arrested inside a carjacked vehicle armed with a handgun. Police could not give information on why he was released. Newson was also involved in an auto burglary on during which he fired shots at his aunt’s residence.

Newson and Martinez are to be considered armed and dangerous and APD is saying should anyone encounter these individuals to call 911 immediately. Anyone with information is also asked to contact law enforcement.
