For Your Information: Immigration Week Cinema


The Jean Cocteau Cinema in Santa Fe invites you to ‘Immigration Week’.

The event is starting today and runs through Sept 29th. The theater will be screening films that address the plight, struggles and triumphs of immigrating to America.

Elias Gallegos, Director of Film and Media at the Jean Cocteau Cinema joined New Mexico Living to share more with us.

Films include ‘Moscow on the Hudson’, ‘Lost City’, ‘Avalon’, ‘Desierto’ (not released yet).

A pre and post-show discussion will be held during this event for people to gather and talk about their experiences perspectives regarding this topic – how it has affected them.

“We are also inviting any immigrants who are currently living here in New Mexico who have a Green Card, come to the theater; there will be no charge for admission, and we would love to hear your stories,” says Gallegos.
