I-25 near Budaghers reopened after HAZMAT incident

BUDAGHERS, N.M. (KRQE) – I-25 is back open between San Felipe and Budaghers after an incident that happened Thursday morning.

I-25 was closed in both directions due to a HAZMAT incident, backing up traffic for miles, according to New Mexico State Police.

NMSP said a tanker with volatile, flammable liquid was causing the trouble. An EOD/HAZMAT unit was on scene.

Police said the tanker was leaking liquid oxygen. They say an officer who noticed the leak pulled the tanker over and the situation unfolded from there.

The area has since reopened.
