NM Tech Raises around $150,000 in Golf Tournament

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE)- New Mexico Tech University held their annual golf tournament to raise money for the students at the university.

The event was a success as over 250 people made it out to the NM Tech Golf Course in Socorro.

It was an event with the theme of recreation meets science, education, and students. The event raised around $150,000 and since its conception back in 1993 the tournament has raised around $2 million. NM Tech President Dr. Stephen Wells says that this is a great event year in and year out to help with kids moving on from NM Tech.

The course in Socorro is pristine and while this university doesn’t have any intercollegiate sports, the facility could possibly change that in the future.

“We do have club sports. We have them within the college. We don’t have intercollegiate. Maybe golf I would go for that because we have such a good course here,” said NM Tech President Dr. Stephen Wells.
