Albuquerque teen recognized by President Obama and First Lady

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – You may recognize Donovan Smith, the Albuquerque teen who has spent the last year making soaps for the homeless. Now, he is getting recognized by the President of the United States and the First Lady.

He received personalized letters from the First Family themselves. In each letter President Obama and the First Lady congratulate him on his accomplishments.

In a year, Donovan has made more than 10,000 soaps for the homeless. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
